Fun Freetime: Spring Sports for Toddlers

There are some great outdoor sports in the spring, and sometimes toddlers want to get in on the fun. Here are some ways you can make spring sports little-kid-friendly.

Use foam bats or balls to play baseball/softball.
Have kids jump over small obstacles to run hurdles.
Throw pool noodles like javelins.
Use a beanbag like a shotput.
Have kids master standing long jump, or see how high they can jump and reach on a wall.
Use a foam bat and ball to mimic shooting a golf ball.
Break soccer and softball/baseball down into one skill at a time, like kicking, throwing, hitting a ball, or blocking shots. Little kids can't keep track of all the rules. Gradually add rules as your kids start to master skills.
