Fun Freetime: Theatre Arts Training (MN)

Disclosure: This post is part of a three-part series about a blogger preview event I attended.

I had heard of the CTC's Theatre Arts Training program, which runs classes throughout the year and summer camps when school is out, but I recently got a chance to experience a taste of it myself. One of the teachers led my daughter and a group of other kids through a storytime, then a chance to act out the story - with their own additions and changes along the way. My daughter had a blast. She loved it! The spaces for the classes are conducive to a variety of creative experiences, and they have themed camps for all interests and ages - pirates, princesses, dinosaurs, space, camps based on certain books, and more. They also have a Culture Camp, which spends each day immersed in a certain cultural organization in the Twin Cities area - Children's Theatre Company, In the Heart of the Best Puppet and Mask Theatre, Highpoint Center for Printmaking, MN Center for the Book Arts and Zanon Dance School. Scholarships are available for families who need them (although all funds have been allocated for the summer, there may be last-minute openings). Some camps include elements of musical theatre as well, such as song and dance. For a budding young actor, this would be a good opportunity!
