The Perfect Summer is a great family-friendly film. It's Dove family-approved. We watched it, and there were parts that went over my youngest daughter's head, but overall it was an enjoyable movie with nothing objectionable in it. In the film, Jake, being raised by his single mother, is uprooted when his mom decides to move closer to her estranged father. The transition from city life in Chicago to small-town surfing is hard, and he isn't exactly making friends. His grandfather teaches him about surfing, and mentors him along the way, as Jake learns some valuable life lessons.
The girls liked it. There was nothing scary at all in it (that's my youngest daughter's complaint with movies, is that they're always scary) and my older daughter (almost seven) was really intrigued by the relationships and why people were being mean to each other. It's definitely solid family entertainment.
