Fun Freetime: Thanksgiving Craft Ideas

Stuffing, Pie: gang’s all here! All that’s left is adding some festive, made-with-love decorations to the table. Thankfully your little one has just the creative eye to do what it takes to get the job done right! Here are a few cute ideas for holiday crafts that will keep your child occupied for hours of artistic fun while you work on holiday preparations

Silk Flower Turkey
Turkey decorations are a Thanksgiving staple. For this new take on the theme, all you need are artificial flowers in autumnal hues, a few pieces of felt, some googly eyes, scissors, and a dab of glue. Simply dissemble the artificial flowers, stack the flower layers in an interesting way, secure with glue, and cut them in half. Cut out turkey body shapes from the felt and glue them onto the flower feathers. Finish it off with a beak and googly eyes and you’re all set!

Thankful Turkey Box
Of course, this holiday is all about giving thanks. Remind your child that it’s not all about yummy food and football with this cute craft and month-long activity! All you need is an empty small tissue box, some paint, and construction paper. Simply cut the shape of feathers and body from pieces of construction paper and glue them onto an empty tissue box that you’ve painted brown. Each day, have everyone in the family write down one thing they’re thankful for and put it in the box so that at the end of the month you can be reminded of all the good things in your life!
