Consumer Critique: In the Forbidden City and This is the Greatest Place

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

This is the Greatest Place! is a book designed for kids ages 5-9. It uses Beijing's Forbidden City to show how nature influences human architecture and design and how human structures can meld with nature. It's a cute lift-flap book with colorful illustrations and was a book that held both of my girls' interest very well. My older one read it again and again and loved seeing the animals in the story!

In the Forbidden City is geared for kids who are a little bit older, ages 9 and up. The book is full of very detailed drawings that show the impressive architecture, gardens, and courtyards in Beijing's Forbidden City. It's part of We All Live in the Forbidden City, a dynamic educational program by China Institute about the history, culture, architecture, and life of imperial China as seen through the lens of the Forbidden City.

Both of these books are great for any family interested in learning more about Chinese culture. They're informative and very appealing!
