Consumer Critique: What a Girl Needs from Her Mom

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

As a mother of two girls, I know that there are things that are different about the world in which they're growing up compared to when I was a kid. However, some parenting principles are timeless. What a Girl Needs from Her Mom does a good job of balancing the universal truths of parenting daughters - such as listen, pray, be a good role model, foster learning - with updated takes on old issues and issues that are new to today's generation - like body image and digital safety.

This book is more than just a parenting book to read. It has helpful questions at the end of each section to help moms reflect and let the advice from the chapter sink in deeper. There are practical tips, like strategies for when your daughter is upset. There are also real-life situations to help bring the statements into perspective.

It was a good book to read, clear and easy to understand, helpful and practical.
