Thrifty Thinking: Free File Alliance for Taxpayers

With less than two weeks left until the tax deadline, the Free File Alliance, a nonprofit coalition of industry-leading tax software companies partnered with the IRS, would like to remind your readers that free tax solutions are available at www.IRS.gov/FreeFile
Free File offers two options to taxpayers depending on income level. Taxpayers with a 2014 Adjusted Gross Income of $60,000 or less can access free, industry-leading tax software to prepare, complete and e-file their federal tax returns at no cost. Taxpayers who have an AGI that exceeds $60,000 can e-file their federal tax returns or an extension using Free File Fillable Forms, a service designed for taxpayers who are familiar with tax law and need no preparation assistance. Free File has been updated for 2015 to help Americans navigate tax changes related to the Affordable Care Act.
Tim Hugo, executive director of the Free File Alliance, the nonprofit coalition of tax software companies partnered with the IRS, is available to discuss Free File and the options available. Feel free to also use the following quote from Tim:
“Free File offers free tax services to all taxpayers, providing a fast, safe and affordable option for anyone who still needs to file. Taxpayers can use Free File to e-file their tax return or an extension at any time, day or night. Filing with Free File is one of the quickest ways to file your taxes and to receive your refund. Visit www.IRS.gov/freefile today to find the tax software option you need.”
