Book Nook: The Visit

In 1822, Clement Clarke Moore created the classic Christmas poem, “The Night Before Christmas,” for his daughter. Not very many people know the story of the poem, so in The Visit, readers can learn about the story of the writing of the classics.

The book is written in verse form, with beautifully detailed illustrations that fit the time period of the original poem, yet are timeless and appropriate today. It also explains a lot of the imagery in the original poem (like coursers and sugarplums), so it was fun an educational for my daughters to read.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to this book review before Christmas. However, it's definitely worth looking for and hanging on until next holiday season, or keeping it on your wish list for gifts later in the year!
