Book Nook: The ABCs of Yoga

A 2015 Yoga Journal poll revealed that 1.7 million American children under the age of 17 practice yoga. I can see why. I've done yoga with my girls, and it's a nice relaxing way to connect with ourselves, our bodies, and each other. On April 8, 2016, 36 states and 12 countries celebrated #KidsYogaDay, created by avid yoga practitioner for over 30 years, teacher and speaker, Teresa Anne Power
I had a chance to review her recently released book, The ABCs of Yoga for Kids: A Guide for Parents and Teachers, a follow-up to her award-winning book, The ABCs of Yoga for Kids. In the book, she does a good job of explaining the benefits and giving an overview of ways to incorporate yoga. It's not a detailed guide with a lot of routines, but it's an excellent book to read for anyone curious as to what yoga is all about. If you already practice yoga as a family, you'll find a lot in the book that you already know, but if you're new to the idea, or just want to know if it's something that will work for you, it's an excellent guide to get you started.
