Pedro ‘n’ Pip was
released and co-produced by singer/songwriter Taylor Barton and her
husband, legendary guitarist and former SNL Band Leader GE Smith. It's an inspiring rock 'n' roll odyssey about a tenacious ten-year-old girl, named Pip,
and a ‘rockoctopus’, Pedro, who she meets while scuba diving after an
oil spill in the Gulf. Together, they forge a powerful friendship and
unite sea creatures and landlubbers alike to help clean up our waters
for the good of all.
I had a chance to review this book, which incorporated music and eco-friendliness in a colorful, engaging story for kids. The book has a score that goes along with it, which makes the story even more fun for kids, since so many young children love music and remember catchy tunes. It weaves in basic science concepts and inspires creativity. There is even a teacher's guide to help educators encourage environmentally friendly actions.
