Soul Sustenance: Secrets Kids Know That Adults Oughta Learn

As adults, it's easy to see that we have a lot more stress than kids. While they run around relatively unbothered by our major stressors, we plan for the future and run over the "what-ifs" in our heads.

Author Allen Klein wants to change that. In Secrets Kids Know...That Adults Oughta Learn he writes about a variety of things that come second nature to children - laughter, joy, play, creativity - that adults tend to forget along the way. Each chapter contains personal anecdotes, as well as stories he's collected from others, to show how children embrace life. At the end of each chapter are "Grow Down" suggestions - easy ways for adults to capture some of the whimsy that they had as children.

This is a fun book. It makes an appropriate exercise in meditation and reflection for all adults, no matter what their spiritual background - it's just an uplifting book to read. My daughter wanted to read it to see what she knew that I didn't, and she kept pointing things out - "See, Mom? Stop telling me not to be silly."

If you want a light way to take your mind off of your stress for a few minutes, or are looking for some habits to add to enjoy life a little more, this is a good book to read.
