Enriching Education: Vote Run Lead

Calling all women looking to run for elected office between now and 2020! VoteRunLead.org, the training powerhouse for women, is holding a three-day intensive conference specifically geared to help women running for elected office between now and 2020. The VoteRunLead “Run As You Are” National Training (#RunAsYouAre) will be held November 17-19, 2017, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and will feature VoteRunLead’s best tools and trainers from throughout the United States that are going to help women prepare to run for local and state office. Registration is open now and is available at: voterunlead.org/nationaltraini ng2017/

Who Should Attend?
Women who are thinking of running for elected office between now and 2020 should attend the VoteRunLead “Run As You Are” National Training, as well as women who have already identified which office they will be running for and women that have decided to run but aren’t sure which office to pursue. Regardless of political party affiliation, VoteRunLead trains all women to run for office.

“We are focused on building women's independent political power among state and local offices,” stated Erin Vilardi, founder and CEO of VoteRunLead. “Getting more women into politics is critical to ensuring that smart decisions are being made on our behalf. There are also no experiences that qualify someone to be a political leader and there is no definition of who aspires to leadership. Anyone that has the passion to serve their community is able to be a leader, hence why we call this training session ‘Run As You Are.’”

The VoteRunLead #RunAsYouAre National Training will offer specialized sessions for women leaders, whether they are running in urban or rural elections. Office-specific content and regional groupings will be offered as well as coming out of the training with a customized campaign plan that will help women enter their local political scene with a purpose. Courses such as, You’re the One We’ve Been Waiting For, Why Are You Running?, Essential Campaign Elements, Real Talk: What It’s Really Like to Run, Take the Field, Real Talk: Fundraising, Fundraising Plan, and special breakout sessions will be offered.

Vilardi noted that the House of Representatives is made up of 80 percent of men
and women only hold 83
out of 435 seats and there are only four current US governors that are women. In the senate, only 21 seats are held by women out of 100. In our nation’s 200 year history, only four women have been appointed as Supreme Court Justices with three of them currently on the nation’s highest court.

Vilardi went on to note, “We have 500,000 elected positions in the United States and it is time for women to have fair representation. By empowering women to find their own political voice, they will build a campaign that is based on their passion and their values.”

VoteRunLead.org offers more than 60 free training resources that can be viewed online and additional in-person training workshops and one-on-one mentoring.

Women from around the country have already signed up for the VoteRunLead #RunAsYouAre National Training and registration is filling up fast.
