Fun Freetime: Expecting

"Expecting" is a new, heart-warming reality TV show on UP that features the pregnancy journeys of 3 very different couples as they turn the lens on themselves to give viewers a peek into one of life's most exciting and personal journeys. NO producers... NO camera crews. With unprecedented intimacy, viewers witness the highs and lows culminating in one of life’s biggest moments. "Expecting" is on the UP TV network on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.

Produced in partnership with Entertainment One (eOne) EXPECTING gives audiences a peek into one of life’s rawest and most exciting journeys in a never-before-seen television event. It is a perfect fit for people who are married, single, have kids or don't! Expecting has many relatable moments about love, family and relationships. The dynamic between each couple is raw, unfiltered and truly authentic. Viewers will follow the journeys of Kelsey and Corbin Scott of Portland, Oregon; Tia and Tre Patterson of Atlanta, Georgia; and Ashley and Thomas Hughes of Pleasant View, Utah.

I had a chance to interview Tia and Tre to learn more.
  1. Why did you decide to be part of Expecting?
We knew that when an opportunity came for us to expand our platform on YouTube and share our birth story, it was necessary to partner with a network that would consider and treat that moment just as precious as it was to us. When the network team behind Expecting contacted us, we knew it was the perfect fit because there were no tricks or gimmicks to create tv drama or fake reality moments. We were able to see ourselves, view our honest perspectives, and share in sincere moments because we created and captured it ourselves...no script necessary!

2. What was the most surprising part of the experience?
The moment we found out we were expecting was one of the best experiences of our lives. After multiple negative tests and a growing concern of the passing time during our efforts to conceive, we were surprised that the day had finally arrived and everything that we endured up to that point made this surprise so much sweeter! In that moment of receiving the test result, our lives changed forever and we couldn't have been more willing and able to receive it as one of the best gifts...the gift of life!

3. What do you think your journey can teach other families?

We hope that our journey will inspire others to remain prayerful and never lose hope for creating and expanding a family. Love is a simple word, but its value is so elaborate and beautiful. Love will sustain a family no matter how it looks...whether one is able to physically have children, receive help via a surrogate, or plan to adopt...the love that surrounds that family is precious and powerful. We appreciate our personal journey of growing our family and we aspire to share it in a pure form so that others may have much expectation for their family to grow in love!
