Book Nook: Road Rules for Retirement

I recently had the chance to review Road Rules for Retirement. Eventually, most of us will retire, and it's never too early to begin plotting the course to financial security in retirement. In this book, Mark Fried shares challenges that come up before and during retirement. He also clearly outlines many of the risks inherent in financial planning for retirement, and helps readers make sure they don't outlive accounts.

His approach to preparing for retirement is a Wealth Strategy - and that's going to mean different things for different people based on their income and desired standard of living. Like many retirement planning books, he discusses the importance of diversifying investments and avoiding draining savings. He also is very clear about what it can mean without a complete plan for long-term care and estate.

This book is clear and concise. It's easy to read even for people with little or no financial background. Although Mark warns readers of potential risks, it's not written in a tone designed to scare people into retirement planning, but rather just make sure readers are aware of what needs to happen.
