Valleyfair is partnering with the Autism Society of America July 16 –22 for Autism Awareness Week. During this time, the park and its employees will focus on enhancing the lives of all those affected by autism by providing specialized services and entertainment all week.
“Our partnership with the Autism Society of America is a great way to highlight the inclusiveness and equal access of our park,” said Valleyfair’s General Manager, Brad Marcy, “I would like to personally welcome all the families and guests who will be attending Valleyfair for Autism Awareness Week.”
Valleyfair kicks off Autism Awareness Week with the help of AuSM (The Autism Society of Minnesota). AuSM is in the park on Monday, July 16, from 10 AM - 1 PM to assist families and promote their upcoming events.
Valleyfair guests can pick up a flyer detailing the benefits offered during Autism Awareness Week at Guest Services. Park sound and select entertainment shows will be played at a lower volume to accommodate the needs of guests with sensory sensitivity.
Quiet and sensory spaces are always available at the park but access to these spaces will be emphasized during this week. These dedicated spaces provide tools for family members or care-givers to intensify or reduce stimulation in a controlled environment. Quiet places are located at the Multi-Sensory Room by Guest Services and at the Family Care Center in Planet Snoopy.
Select live shows for the week are adjusted to become sensory friendly with lower volume and less crowd interaction. These shows include the Vocal Coasters, Sally’s Sing Along, Snoopy’s Dog Days of Summer, and Party with the PEANUTS. Ear plugs will also be available at Guest Services in order to provide additional assistance.
Valleyfair offers a wide variety of food options for guests with dietary restrictions. Select dining locations offer gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options.
Guests can come to Valleyfair for Autism Awareness Week with a daily ticket or a Gold Season Pass. A Gold Season Pass pays for itself in fewer than two visits and can be purchased at Valleyfair.com. A Gold Season Passes includes unlimited visits to Valleyfair, Soak City Waterpark (open through Labor Day) and ValleySCARE this fall.
