How many famous speeches can you name by a woman? A new book compiled by Anna Russell seeks to answer that question. I had a chance to review So Here I Am: Speeches by Great Women to Empower and Inspire, and I really enjoyed it.
The author does a good job explaining her motivation behind the book, as well as her difficulty in sometimes finding reliable texts of speeches by women. In the back of the book, she also gives great resources for further exploration, and names of great women (like Boudicca) who are amazing but don't have specific speeches reliably attributed to them.
The first dedicated collection of speeches by women from around the world, So Here I Am is the first dedicated collection of speeches by women. Speeches are included from many different historical time periods, and on many different topics - politics, science, and more.
It's a great collection for any family or classroom seeking to incorporate more authentic sources from female role models.
