I recently had a fun box of books arrive from Zonderkidz, a Christian kids publisher (a division of Zondervan). Some of them were perfect for my kids, although they were too old for a few.
The Beginner's Bible First 100 Bible Words - We had the Zonderkidz Beginner's Bible when the girls were younger. This is designed to go along with it. The bright illustrations and bold font are a great way to help reinforce vocabulary and start introducing sight words to kids as they read their Bible stories.
The Wonder that is You - This book is a beautiful way to celebrate a new arrival. I love the way that this book is written in order to celebrate all the ways that children join our lives - or to celebrate milestones along the way. The illustrations are gorgeous, and the simple yet loving text reinforces the bond between child and loving adult.
The Brick Builders Illustrated Bible - This is a fun way to read Bible stories for anyone who likes to build. There are dozens of familiar stories, each illustrated in a kid-friendly way. What I appreciated most about this book was the "Building Block" in each story that helps make the stories more relevant, not just something that happened long ago.
Seek and Explore Devotions for Kids - I really appreciated this book for the way it brings kids through the Bible. Each "week" (6 days) focuses on a main point from a different book of the Bible, with a different format for each day - one with an activity, one with a devotion, one with a prayer, etc. For our kids, we chunk a few days together during our family devotion time. The book ends up with 366 days (which is 61 "weeks" if there are 6 days in a week) so people that really like to match up days of the year might find that a little odd, but for the way we use it, it works just fine no matter how many days it's supposed to take.
Zonderkidz has a wide variety of other books for kids - books that can reinforce values, Bibles, devotionals, picture books, and much more. Their books are sold at many different outlets, including Amazon, B&N, Christian Books, and more.
