The site has several ways to search - by age, by category, or boy/girl/all; once a category is selected you can search by popularity or price. Some of the gifts I had seen on other websites before, some I was able to find on other websites, some were pretty unique.
I was able to pick gift wrap, which was nice because my girls have very different taste. I especially appreciated the placement of the sticker on the cat emoji package! The gifts also come with a pre-written thank-you note that allows the recipient to circle options, making it easy for them to write a thank you (and to remember that they should in the first place). I would still make my kids add a more personal note, but for kids where that's a huge chore, it's better than nothing. I was also impressed with their customer service. We had a small concern with our order, and it was resolved very quickly.
You can enter their contest to try to win (or just read the post to get some fun activity ideas).
Fun facts about the company:
- Riley, the Wicked Uncle US dog, enjoyed blowing out the candle on the company's first birthday cake in the US last year.
- All toys are kid tested by the children of colleagues - except for the teen toys. As the rep said, "We seem to have a lot of 30 plus teenagers on staff already. "
- The President really enjoys taking a turn handwriting birthday cards and is collecting all the different names grandparents sign off as- he's up to over 30 variations, so far.
- Although all the presents are delivered in the USA, they've had to write some of the birthday cards in different languages. French and Spanish easy, Ukrainian not so much.
- Many of the best toys from the UK worked, but certainly not all. Somehow Potato guns (called "Spud guns") are more fun in England. Who knew? And the colors favored by kids in the UK aren't always the same as those over here. Not to mention the spelling of "colors" or "favored".
- They provide- completely free and, as a public service, the most popular, age appropriate joke delivery service (https://www.wickeduncle.co.
uk/jokes/) - to help adults communicate with the kids in their lives. - Here's one for 9 year olds: My friend thinks he is so smart. He told me an onion is the only food that makes you cry, so I threw a coconut at him.
- On a more serious note, they think they may be the only birthday site that includes REAL gift wrap, REAL birthday card choices, handwritten birthday cards and a pre-addressed, fun thank you note for the child to fill in and send back.
