Book Nook: 10-Minute Declutter and 10-Minute Tidy Home

I recently had a chance to review two books designed to make organizing your home a manageable job.

10-Minute Declutter: Hundreds of Tips to Organize Every Room of Your House begins with a description of fengshui and how it can be incorporated into your home. It doesn't go into great detail, so if you wanted more, then you could explore 10-Minute Feng Shui: Hundreds of Easy Tips and Techniques for Prosperity, Health, and Happiness (which I didn't review). This book focuses on clearing clutter in order to make things more organized. Whether or not you agree with the principles of feng shui, the tips are still easy to implement - and very helpful. In just a few minutes at a time, the book helps readers make significant changes that can really improve the appearance of your house, as well as actually save you time and improve your mental health.

10-Minute Tidy Home: Hundreds of Easy Tips to Straighten and Clean Every Room of Your House is a way to quickly make your home more organized. The two books do overlap a lot, although this one doesn't bring up the idea of feng shui at all. The first book has a little more of an emphasis on removing things; the second has a stronger emphasis on what to do with what's left. They each have a slightly different voice and style, so you'll find lots of tips in each one that aren't in the other one, as well as some practical advice in both.

Skye Alexander is the author of more than two dozen fiction and nonfiction books, including 10-Minute Feng Shui, The Care and Feeding of Your Chi, and The Reflexology Card Deck. Her first novel, Hidden Agenda, won the Kiss of Death Award for best book of romantic suspense. Her stories have appeared in numerous anthologies internationally, and her work has been translated into ten languages. She was also featured in the Discovery Channel TV special "Secret Stonehenge." After spending thirty-one years in Massachusetts, she now lives on a cattle ranch in the heart of Texas.
Sara L. Hunter is the mother of a preschooler and holds down a marketing job while keeping her house spotlessly clean and organized. She lives in North Attleboro, Massachusetts.
