Caring Causes: The Locket Sisters

Minneapolis' The Locket Sisters was started by two MN sisters as a way to provide their Woodford Photography clients with a beautiful way to keep those people and things that are most meaningful to them close, all the time. The idea came about when Amy was traveling the world as a model and couldn't find a locket she loved to hold a photo of her children to bring with on her trips. She and Allyssa decided to make one and they ended up making several.

They now have several lockets to choose from that range in shape, material and price. Each locket can be customized with any image provided to the sisters, the customer just uploads the photo they’d like and the sisters insert it securely into the locket of their choice and send it on its way.

We'd love for you to consider including the lockets in any holiday gift guides you might be planning. I’m happy to send along some sample lockets or custom photos of them.

About The Locket Sisters
Started in the Twin Cities in 2017 by two sisters, Amy and Allyssa, the seeds for The Locket Sisters came when Amy wished she had a locket of her kids while traveling the world as a model, and Allyssa's hobby of making jewelry for fun ever since she was a kid.

The lockets can be made with any image. The buyer simply chooses one of the locket designs she loves, uploads the image she wants to have inside, and then Amy and Allyssa get to work in their Minneapolis studio making the custom piece. It’s a simple process for the buyer, and a meditation on relationships for the sisters.

The lockets are named after the important girls and women in their family – daughters, nieces, mom and grandmas (I have the stories behind each if you are interested). They also just launched a line of kid's lockets inspired by Allyssa's daughter, Penny, who was sad when getting dropped off at preschool. She started wearing her Mom's locket and it solved the problem completely.

An added bonus of buying from this company is that they have committed to giving 25% of their profits to a different charity each month.

Amy Woodford Honmyhr
Even during her decades traveling the world as a model in high-end fashion magazines and walking runways internationally, Amy would go home and make things. Quilts. Blankets. Anything creative to fill her up. Eventually, she moved from NYC to a three-acre estate in Minnesota with her husband, her endless collection of vintage fabrics, and their three little kids. Making lockets was her idea, because while modeling she could never find the perfect piece to put a photo of her kids inside. So, she designed her own.

Allyssa Woodford Hughes
Allyssa has been making jewelry since she was a kid. She started her career in non-profit work in Denver, quit it all to travel South America with her husband, and moved back to Minnesota to be closer to family. She took her next leap a few years later when she opened a photography studio with her sister. From there, her two worlds merged into The Locket Sisters. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and two young children.
