I recently had a chance to review several new releases from Hachette books that can provide inspiration and peace.
This small book tackles the big question of suffering and injustice. It's very short and easy to read, but it's also very clear - God uses the challenges of life for His purposes. There's a Bible verse about rejoicing in suffering, and this book is essentially an expansion on that verse - that through suffering God can bring about hope, joy, and peace as we seek to discover His purpose.
I liked the running metaphor of pirates in this book - with imagery like being shipwrecked and walking the plank. It's a powerful reminder that sometimes our lack of peace is due to self-imposed factors, like trying to seek too much control or making ourselves martyrs. With humorous anecdotes that make the author relatable, and Biblical messages of peace, it's an uplifting book that is perfect for moms who feel the need for more peace in their lives.
This is another great book for people who are longing for a sense of peace, centered around the theme of breath. The book begins with a story from the author's life about watching his daughter struggling for breath due to croup, as well as a reminder of God's creation of Adam and life-giving breath, which helps drive home the point that breath is essential. Throughout the book each chapter identifies a different nuance of breath, and the whole book serves to help challenge readers to breathe in God's goodness.
