We recently had the chance to see several titles from Rocky Nook that shared different watercolor techniques.
Watercolor with Markers: Learn to Paint Beautiful Creations with Brush Pens
Watercolor Botanical Garden: A Modern Approach to Painting Bold Flowers, Plants and Cacti
Watercolor Snacks: Inspiring Lessons for Sketching and Painting Your Favorite Foods
In the books, the project ideas had clearly laid out prompts and materials lists, and there were fun little intros and tidbits about each one. They were written in a way that even relatively new artists could follow the ideas, as long as they were careful. My daughter, who is amazing at art, loved the new ideas (especially making a theme like snacks look artistic), and even I was able to make somewhat decent art using the books.
I liked how each book had a little different perspective and focus. Watercolor with Markers isn't exactly what people think of with watercolor, but the projects turn out very well when complete. Watercolor Botanical Garden is a little more traditional, and great for anyone who wants to improve their techniques with
representing the natural world. Watercolor Snacks is fun and cute. All of them would make great gifts for the artists in your life!
