Consumer Critique: The Fast Metabolism Diet

Disclosure: I received complimentary products to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

I was skeptical at the chance to review The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy. It sounded too gimmicky. But after reading through, it's clear she's laid out a carefully crafted, researched plan that has worked for many of her clients.

The premise is that keeping our metabolism guessing is the way to jump-start and heal a metabolism broken by crash-dieting or poor eating habits. By rotating high-carb, low-carb, and health-fat phases, along with appropriate exercise (cardio, weights, or relaxing workouts like yoga or walks) for the phases, the diet is supposed to help prime the metabolism.

I followed the diet for a week, just to see how easy it would be. The hardest for me was the protein-veggie day - but what made it hard was just trying not to make it obvious I was on a specific eating plan. I actually enjoyed what I was eating, but it was so different from how I usually eat that it would have drawn too much attention from my kids! I also discovered that if you have a big sweet tooth, rhubarb counts for a veggie that day, and cooked rhubarb with just a little bit of a natural low-calorie sweetener makes an excellent dessert!

If you're looking to jump-start a weight loss or are stuck on the last few pounds, give the book a try. You've got nothing to lose - except the weight! To find out more, Like Haylie Pomroy or follow @HayliePomroy.
