As a kid, my mom got me hooked on logic puzzles and other brain games. We would always buy a few magazines with a variety of puzzles in them to take on our long road trips to visit grandparents. I was thrilled to get a chance to review Reader's Digest Mind Stretchers Volume 1 and Volume 2. These puzzle books have it all - crosswords, trivia, logic, word searches, number games. I'm not a huge fan of word searches since they just involve looking instead of thinking, but in a variety book it's fine - it just provides a different type of game.The puzzles are a decent difficulty. My older daughter could handle some of them, and they pretty much all required thinking for me as a relatively experienced puzzle solver. The crosswords were the most challenging for me, since that's a type of puzzle I just don't do often, but I found myself getting better the more I did.
These books are a great gift for the puzzle lover in your life!
