Book Nook: A Runtamuffin Tale

I recently had a chance to review a cute book, A Runtamuffin Tale. In this book, Legacy Farms has over a dozen chickens, plus dogs and horses. Runtamuffin, or Runti, is the smallest chicken, who becomes friends with one of the biggest creatures on the farm.

Targeted to kids ages six to twelve, this book is a gentle read about appearances and what's really important in relationships - trust and togetherness as opposed to physical traits. It would be a great addition to a school library, to help reinforce anti-bullying and community concepts.

Author Melissa Taylor was born and raised in the small town of Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Melissa's mom filled her childhood home with animals, which cultivated Melissa's love and desire to surround herself with all types of four- and two-legged creatures. She currently lives, owns and runs a farm with her husband in South Florida with 14 chickens, 34 horses, 5 dogs and a cockatiel.
