Book Nook: The Book of Joe

Joe Biden has mastered a feat few politicians have - being generally well-liked in the court of public opinion, by people from both parties. I had the chance to learn a lot more about him when I got The Book of Joe: The Life, Wit, and (Sometimes Accidental) Wisdom of Joe Biden

I had no idea how long his career was, or what he had been involved in prior to being vice president. This book didn't aim to provide a detailed chronology of his life, but rather anecdotes that showcase his viewpoint on life.

I think the author did a great job choosing stories and quotes that showcase not only his personality, but also how life has worked in sometimes surprising ways. For example, one of the students he inspired to overcome stuttering later was sworn into office by his own son.

Interspersed with brief quotes, full of positive stories, and showcasing a sampling of his accomplishments, this book is a great option for anyone who likes Joe Biden and wants to learn more, but doesn't want a stuffy book that might get bogged down in details.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review
