I enjoy getting to review devotional books. We use them for nightly devotionals, as well as other times during the day when we feel we need a break or a quick reminder of God's message. One of the most recent I got was Adored - 365 Devotions for Young Women.
Being the mother of two girls, I try to be conscious of the messages they get. It can be easy for them to get mixed messages about who they are and who they need to be in this world. As they get into the tween years, the struggle for independence and fitting in could make those messages harder to sort out. Adored helps young women navigate those challenges, touching on a wide variety of topics experienced by teens - social media, navigating friendships, dating, self-esteem, and more.
This is a book I'm going to wait a few years for my girls. Right now they're 8 and 10, so while the older one can certainly understand these topics, the younger one isn't quite there yet. In a few years, it will work well for our devotion time to encourage my older one to make good choices, and give my younger one tools for when those issues do come up in her life.
The entire book reinforces just how precious we are to God - a great message for girls who may be struggling to figure out their place in the world. The book balances light-hearted with serious, providing real-world applications, Scripture, and room for personal meditation. It's an excellent choice for families with girls in their teen years.
