Amazing Apps: Fearless Finance

Lori Atwood CFP® today announced the launch of Fearless Finance, a web-based personal finance platform and mobile app designed for the majority of Americans who lack clear insight into their financial health and no clear or simple path to financial freedom. After two decades as an investment banker and a financial planner, Atwood decided to build the tool that was missing from the landscape and that many of her clients sought: a platform and app that would give users a complete 360 degree look at their finances (spending, saving and planning) and ultimately give them control of their own financial wellness.
Fearless Finance democratizes and simplifies the process of understanding finances by removing worries about conflicts of interest and high fees or minimum budgets users might have with financial planners. The anxiety that comes from the time consuming process of trying to figure out ever changing monthly spending habits is removed and users are given an easy to understand way of keeping track of spending and planning for emergencies and future expenses.
“Anyone can be financially secure and you don’t have to have a budget to do it,” says Atwood, CEO and Founder of Fearless Finance. “Too many people are afraid of confronting their actual spending and saving habits and think that getting professional advice is not accessible to them. Fearless Finance is an accessible personal finance advisor-that financially savvy parent that you always wanted to give you sound financial advice.”
Using data input by the user, the platform takes the user through all the steps of basic personal finance and generates a Summary Report that shows the user’s current financial situation tracked against five points of financial security: cash flow secure, rainy day fund, emergency fund for total loss of income, retirement savings, and credit card debt. It then provides specific recommendations for each user that can be implemented immediately to achieve their financial goals.
Users on the platform:
  • Only have to run the program once a year or whenever there is a major life event like a new job or marriage.
  • Do not have to have a budget of consistent, predictable expenses each month.
  • Have the option to link their banking and credit card personal accounts.

The mobile app (available for IOS and Android) allows the user to track full discretionary spending and groceries through the month to stay on target and not overspend. If a user stays within their targets on groceries and discretionary spending, and uses their Rainy Day Savings for unexpected expenses, they should be able to save as planned and therefore reach their goals. Users’ credit card and checking accounts will automatically link if added on the platform and transactions are auto-categorized to make it as easy as possible.
