Enriching Education: Codespeak Labs

Codespeak Labs aims to make computer science accessible for parents and teachers to teach their kids. They have some great hour of code activities for kids as young as PreK. Two are available for free, and others are paid downloads, plus one physical book.

I was sent a book that contains three coding stories, and I really like it. The books are well-written, engaging, brightly colored to attract kids of all ages, and sprinkled with energy and humor. They contain foundational skills and critical thinking that kids would use for actually programming. Even if kids aren't going to end up in a coding or computer programming career, the skills boosted by coding have wide-reaching application. Coding and programming require logic, discipline, attention to detail, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills - and even a little bit of creativity.

Even if you have no coding skills yourself, these books make a great way to introduce coding to your kids.
