Book Nook: Nature-Inspired Art Books from Walter Foster

I recently had a chance to review two nature-inspired art books from Walter Foster. These were both a lot of fun to review, especially for my nature-loving artistic daughter!

Illustration Studio: Inking Animals from artist Sova Huova contains instruction on a variety of inking styles and methods for whimsical animal projects (including unicorns!), so artists of all skill levels can discover something new.

This was definitely a higher-level art book, but not something that was out of reach for less-experienced artists. I'm amazed at how many different techniques there are to be able to get different textures and patterns appropriate for different animals.

Nature Art Workshop, offers a unique collection of mixed-media projects that invites you to explore nature's many canvases. With sections on flowers, stones and shells, wood, and more, art lovers of all levels and interests will find projects to bring them closer to nature.

This was definitely a book my daughter loved; she loves collages and making art out of found objects, so this really suited her.

Both books are very clear in their explanations, while allowing for a lot of artistic freedom within the techniques. They'd both make excellent gifts for artists of all ages who have an interest in nature-inspired art.
