I recently had a chance to review Portfolio: Beginning Pen & Ink . This book introduces drawing basics. There was a good variety of techniques, including stippling, hatching, and crosshatching. There were also exercises for working on various types of drawings with pen, including perspective, contour, and more.
Ink can be different than pencil drawing, so the book also included information on how to work with value and tone, light and shadow, mood, and texture. Those who like to work with black and white or those who like to add color will also find helpful information. It's designed primarily for the beginning but somewhat serious artist, and was a great book for my very arts-focused daughter.
