Nearly everyone learns how to ride a bike at some point, which means that nearly anyone can understand the context for the quotes in this book. I enjoy quote books - I think it's fun to see all the different perspectives, they're easy to read, they often offer a different perspective or an element of inspiration. This book is no different.
Many of the quotes were from people that are generally universally recognized. Many of them are people that are well-known in the bike world. My favorite was this one.
Consider a man riding a bicycle. Whoever he is, we can say three things about him. We know he got on the bicycle and started to move. We know that at some point he will stop and get off. Most important of all, we know that if at any point between the beginning and the end of his journey he stops moving and does not get off the bicycle he will fall off it. That is a metaphor for the journey through life of any living thing, and I think of any society of living things. (William Golding)
If you have a cycling enthusiast in your life, this book would make a fun gift!
