I have kids that are quickly approaching the teen years, so I was excited for the opportunity to review Raising Successful Teens: How to Help Your Child Honor God and Live Wisely.
This is actually a reboot of an older title, The Fight of Your Life. However, it's been significantly updated with a new title, and over two-thirds of the book is new content. The book is nicely organized and well-laid-out. With clear and concise chapters that provide guiding principles and practical steps for raising teens to make good choices and to honor God.
The book contains Biblically-based advice. It is written from a conservative perspective, so parents with a more liberal understanding of certain topics won't agree with everything in the book. As with any parenting book, not everything will work for your family situation, but it's a good way to explore what's important to you as you raise your teens. It includes topics like technology, relationships and dating, social media, and, most importantly, keeping open communication between parents and teens.
