Consumer Critique: Love That Peanut!

I recently had a chance to review Love That Peanut!, a non-GMO peanut flour supplement designed for babies. It is available nationwide at Amazon.com.

Love That Peanut! was eveloped by Dr. Cascya Charlot, a Harvard Medical School-trained pediatric allergist. It blends 100% organic peanut flour with immune system boosting probiotics to help babies combat food allergies. The powder can be mixed with breast milk, baby formula, or pureed food and retails for $37.99 for a 90-day supply.

Allergy experts have learned from a groundbreaking Learning Early About Peanut allergy (LEAP) study that early introduction of peanuts to babies as young as 4 months old may decrease the child’s chances of developing a peanut allergy by 80%. The addition of probiotics for immune support may further help decrease a child’s chances of developing food allergies, while boosting the ability to fight infections.

“My daughter was born in 2015, the same year that LEAP released new findings about the benefits of peanut consumption in infants to the allergy and immunology community. I was set on introducing peanuts to my baby’s diet, but struggled to find a way to do it, as peanuts are choking hazards and should never be introduced to a baby whole,” says Dr. Charlot, who is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. “At the same time, I was learning more and more about the microbiome and the important role that some bacteria in babies’ gut play in both decreasing the likelihood of developing food allergies and fighting infections. This was the inspiration behind Love That Peanut! It’s the first and only product to blend immune boosting probiotics to peanut flour to make early peanut introduction to fight food allergies safe, easy and effective.”

I had a chance to try a sample. Although I don't have infants anymore, I did want to see how easy it was to use - it's easy to add to a variety of things. It has a subtle peanut flavor that makes a great addition to desserts and even savory foods, and blends well, so it would be easy to add to cereal or baby food fruit.
