When not travelling the world with his business, Richard Unwin loves nothing more than relaxing at home with his grandchildren, his black Labrador Henry, Cockapoo Bootsy and indulging in the wonders of nature.
It now all comes together in an enthralling and inspiring new children’s book series. Volume one, ‘Bootsy’s Picnic Adventure: The Only Flying Cockapoo’, gets things off to a literal flying start.
“Actually, the first book was conceived one day when Bootsy was tearing around the garden, and a wood pigeon suddenly swept past. It got me thinking – what would happen if Bootsy could fly?,” explains the author, who has since founded publishing company Fun Nature Books. “As someone with a very active imagination, I was compelled to write a book about it as lockdown came into force, and I had lots of time on my hands. I initially wrote the story for my grandchildren, but then decided to release it to the world.”
Continuing, “My goal is to help children recognize, embrace and be excited about exploring the birds that fill the world and habitats around us. The books are full of fun, colourful illustrations and will keep children gripped as Bootsy embarks on her many flying adventures. This is only volume one; I have an entire series planned!”

About the Author:
Richard Unwin is an international businessman. He loves all wildlife, trees, animals and especially birds. Greatly enjoys the companionship of dogs. Loves his dear black Labrador Henry and lively Bootsy, the delightful Cockapoo.
Richard also has a large collection of grandchildren. During lockdown he decided to use some of the time to write a few books to amuse the youngsters. He was eager to encourage them to take an interest in birds. He weaved some popular varieties into a first story about Bootsy and her astonishing flying ability! This came about whilst Richard was watching the golden cockapoo race across the lawn one sunny afternoon when simultaneously a wood pigeon swept past Bootsy! The idea was conceived for the first book.
Richard is delighted to be associated with Fun Nature Books
