World Wisdom: TerraCycle and Spotlight Oral Care

International recycling leader TerraCycle recently announced a new partnership with Spotlight Oral Care, a brand founded by certified dentist sisters Dr. Lisa and Dr. Vanessa Creaven with the goal of creating clinically proven, clean and sustainable oral care products that help patients while not hurting the earth.

Did you know that dental aligners are not typically recyclable in community curbside pickup and that this plastic can take hundreds of years to effectively break down?

In order to proactively keep as much of this plastic out of landfills as possible, dental aligners are now recyclable through the Spotlight Oral Care Aligners Recycling Program. Consumers can take part by simply bringing their old aligners and associated packaging to a participating dentist for recycling.

About Spotlight Oral Care:
Founded in 2016 by certified dentist sisters, Dr. Lisa and Dr. Vanessa Creaven, it was Spotlight Oral Care’s aim to create the best oral health products and to educate and empower people to engage with customized preventative oral care. As dentists, they have a unique insight into the needs and wants of their patients. Their clinically proven range of products combine the latest advances in oral care research with the highest quality of clean, harm-free and active ingredients. Having identified the lack of sustainability within the industry, with billions of toothpaste tubes ending up in landfills each year, Spotlight Oral Care made the move to become more environmentally friendly and aware. All Spotlight Oral Care products are vegan-friendly, toxin-free, cruelty-free and palm oil free. The toothpaste tubes are made from a by-product of sugar cane making them the world’s first ever 100% recyclable tube, completely revolutionizing the oral care industry.
