The Sense home energy monitor (sense.com) is the latest in smart home technology that tracks and reports energy usage, helping to reduce high utility bills. Like a fitness tracker for the home, the Sense app tells what's on, what's off, how much energy the home is using and how much it costs. You can see how much electricity is wasted by an inefficient water heater and set goals to reduce usage. You can also set alerts to tell him when the sump pump turns on, the garage door opens, or the coffeemaker is still warming an hour after coffee time. Data jocks will love all the detailed data about a home’s electricity usage, right down to the toaster!
Sense can make home maintenance easier, too. It constantly tracks the home’s power quality to help diagnose electrical problems, and the Sense app tells you if your HVAC system is using more or less electricity than similar homes. For the smart home guy, Sense works with Google Home and Alexa, and it integrates with some smart plugs and smart lights.
Sense installs in the home’s electrical panel and uses machine learning algorithms to identify and track individual devices. As soon as it’s installed, Sense samples the home’s energy 1 million times every second, continuously tracking how much energy the home is using and giving the homeowner immediate feedback about potential energy drains in their home. Sense customers share their stories here about how they’re saving energy and money in their homes while reporting that it pays for itself in the first month.
The Sense monitor is available on Amazon for $299 and Sense Solar is available for solar homes. To celebrate Father’s Day, the Sense monitor will be $60 off from June 10, 2021 to June 22, 2021.
