Whyzz is a new platform to help families shape the way future generations view the world by providing them with tools and resources for families to instill a global mindset and garner appreciation for the world. I had a chance to review some of their award-winning children's books.
I love the idea behind Whyzz. By using teachable moments and everyday objects, kids can learn about issues that affect people around the world, or learn about geography and culture. Instead of making it a big, heavy lecture, families can make it more digestible. Instead of it being just something talked about at certain times, it can be incorporated into daily life - which will help the lessons sink in with kids and be more understood.
You can see a few sample Global Challenges discussions or conversations about the world on the site, and they can be used in several different ways. Parents and caregivers can read the brief article and then ask kids the questions, or they can use the accompanying symbol as a discussion prompt and just sort of freestyle it after reading the article themselves. Either way, the books touch on a variety of issues or elements of culture. I thought that the way the book was written was well done - it would work for families with kids of all ages, and be perfect for families who want to start discussions about important topics but aren't quite sure where to start.
They also have an iOS app for families to help them learn about the world in which we live. For more information, visit their site or their IG page @whyzzexplorer.
