Caring Causes: Jay Allen, Tim Sigler, and Alzheimer's Association MN-ND

Country singer, Jay Allen, and local musician, Tim Sigler, will perform at Ziggy's Music Bar in Hudson, October 14, 2021, in a concert to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter. The Between the Blank Stares event, hosted by Erin Truax, Mrs. Minnesota America, will help support the more than six million Americans who are living with Alzheimer’s disease.

For Jay Allen, the cause is close to his heart. His 2018 hit, “Blank Stares,” is a song he wrote for his mother, who passed away from early-onset Alzheimer’s. “This song means the world to me,” Allen said. It was a song that resonated with many, going viral with over 300 million views on Facebook.

Allen recalls a visit with his mother as she looked straight ahead like she didn’t even see him. “I wrote the line, I still see you in between the blank stares,” Allen said, knowing he had to get the song out as soon as possible. With “Blank Stares,” Allen has helped raise more than $35 million dollars for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Truax, the host of the event, lost her grandfather to Alzheimer’s disease in 2015. That same year, she wrote and published a book hoping to help her young daughter understand what happened to him. Truax is also an advocate and volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association.
