Movie Minute: FilmRise Celebrates Black History Month with 600 Hours of Free Content on the FilmRise Black TV Ap

This February, FilmRise celebrates Black History Month with over 600 hours of content on their free Black TV App that highlights the talents of black creators and black stars.

FilmRise recently acquired a catalog from Maverick Entertainment Group, boasting over 300 titles from predominantly black creators and spanning genres including crime thrillers, rom-coms, faith-based films, genre films and much more.

In addition, FilmRise is putting their library of film titles that celebrate moments in Black history – as well as pop culture – front and center. These titles include Oscar winners Whoopi Goldberg and Sissy Spacek in THE LONG WALK HOME, an NAACP Image Award-winning period piece about the Montgomery Alabama bus boycott led by Martin Luther King, Jr. And, just for fun, there’s also the SISTER, SISTER-famous Mowry siblings in teen comedy SEVENTEEN AGAIN popularized on the Disney Channel.

Another highlight is the Ice-T-hosted “The Mediator with Ice-T,” in which Ice-T settles civil disputes after hearing both parties and consulting with experts.
