Book Nook: A Kid's Guide to Saving the Planet

There is a wealth of information about climate change and how severe it already is, as well as how bad it could get. Nationally recognized meteorologist Paul Douglas (a figure a little near and dear to this Minnesota girl's heart), has written a book to help kids make a difference, A Kid’s Guide to Saving the Planet: It’s Not Hopeless and We’re Not Helpless.

This book is a good way for parents to explain climate change to kids. Even better, though, it includes realistic things that kids can do right now. Not every tip will work for every kid in every home, but many of them are small changes that can have a big impact if enough people do them. Each chapter also includes inspiring stories of kids who are doing what they can to save the planet. The book is written in a clear, informative, friendly tone, and will appeal to kids of a wide age range, but is targeted to kids ages 8-13.
