Money Matters: Women and Job-Hunting

From Kim Kardashian's controversial comments about women's lack of hustle to Twitter accounts calling out companies for pay inequality on International Women's Day, conversations about women in the workforce are everywhere this Women's History Month.

But what do women in the workforce actually want? For thirty-seven percent of currently employed women, it's a new job; 63% of those women are job-hunting to get a higher salary.

That's according to a new survey by ResumeBuilder.com, a leading online resource for resume and career advice. From March 4-6, 2022, ResumeBuilder.com surveyed 1,250 women who are currently employed, or unemployed but seeking work regarding their perspectives on equal pay, paid family leave, female leadership, and more.

Additional key findings include:

  • 37% of women who are currently employed are looking for a new job
  • 75% of women consider a company's maternity and family leave policies when applying for jobs
  • Among women who consider a company's family leave policies when job-hunting, the #1 policy they want is flexibility to take paid time off for family needs
  • 89% of women say it's important to them that their employers have women in leadership roles
