My husband loves photography, and my daughter is starting to get into it, so I was happy to review two no books from Rocky Nook.
The Travel Photography Book combines two of our family's hobbies - photography and travel. Even though I'm not the main photographer in our family, I still enjoyed reading this book, with its tips on what to capture and how to capture it. Some of the ideas were things that are often captured when traveling, but there were also some new angles and things to explore as well. The book really made me want to travel, and my daughter was able to try out some of the tips on a recent road trip. Even though my husband is already an avid photographer, he got some new ideas for subject matter on our next trip as well. Even if you aren't planning any major trips, this book works well for capturing staycation moments and scenes as well.
I liked the idea behind The Mindful Photographer. I think it's really good to be more aware and mindful during a lot of the things that we do. This book was a series of short essays that were part instructive, part philosophical, and all food for thought when it comes to photography techniques and ideas. It helps photographers see things differently, and really be present even while they're sometimes behind a lens.
