Deryth Vine’s ‘Fiskers Meets Santa Claus’ really started something. Written just after the war and not published until recently, main character Fiskers is an adorable little field mouse and in this first bedtime book from Deryth, which she created in 1947, he has just bought cheese for his mother when he hears a cry for help on leaving her shop. On investigation he discovers an elf trapped on a thorn. After setting him free, the elf grants Fiskers wish to meet Santa Claus as a reward and there begins his adventure.
These stories transport Fiskers on magical adventures in much the same way as a child's imagination. Children in the younger age group will relate well to these tales and they will encourage their own imaginations. Inspiring imagination, creativity, and a love for reading, writing, and learning are what Tanglin Publishing are all about. Books and resources that lovingly guide children in this direction.

Tanglin are a small independent publisher, formed in 2013, with a big heart, says publisher Tony Laing. We hope you love our books and resources that guide children towards a love of reading, learning, and creativity. Our first illustrated children's book, ‘Fiskers Meets Santa Claus,’ comes a wonderful providential story. It was written by my wife, Deryth, in 1947 when she was 13 years old, then rediscovered in August 2013. It came to light when her sister, Elaine, moved up to Lincoln to be near us. When unpacking, she restored the original book to her in pristine condition.
This book had followed Elaine from Singapore, where it had been conceived, written, and illustrated to England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, back to Singapore, and finally to the United Kingdom. We decided as she had taken so much care over the 66 years, we ought to publish! And so we did.
This inspired my wife to write three more Fiskers the Field Mouse storybook adventures. They make wonderful gifts for children ages 4 to 12 and encourage reading through love of story.
Adds Tony: “It has been an honour helping my dear wife bring her publishing dreams to pass. She wholeheartedly enjoyed writing these books for children. Books one to three were also illustrated by her. Book four was illustrated by the gifted, Irene Hart.”
They’re all available at Tanglin Publishing’s online store www.tanglinpublishing.
