Enriching Education: Kidsplosion

 I recently had a chance to interview Carlena Evans, philanthropist and founder of the international children’s program Kidsplosion.

 

Since its inception in 2011, Kidsplosion has grown to secure various partnerships with several cities, countries, schools, and organizations. Branching from their five locations in Georgia, Carlena has expanded the Kidsplosion brand all the way to Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Dubai!

-Why do kids need freedom to explore their creativity and inventiveness?

Every child is born with their own unique gifts and qualities that need to be shared with the world. Parents must allow their children to explore and learn those abilities, for so many reasons. When children know their talents early, they become more competent, they grow confidence, and they even become better students! If children grow into adults, never learning their own abilities, they become unsatisfied and often miserable. I'd prefer to share the world with fulfilled people, wouldn't you?

-How can families provide space for their kids to create and explore?

Parents can keep open minds with their children by allowing them opportunities to explore their interests OR they can sign up for Kidsplosion Services! 

-Why is it particularly important to provide resources to support children from underprivileged communities as they explore their potential?

Underprivileged communities need this service the most! These children, more than anyone, must realize their worth, potential, and abilities! They often rely on their talents and abilities to support them! Education is not freely assessable in every country. Having skilled trades and natural abilities can support individuals in these areas. Regardless of where or what situation one was born in, we are all gifted and valuable!

-Can you share a little bit about Kidsplosion and how it helps kids learn and develop?

Through our paid programs, we help children discover their own gifts and interests by offering a wide array of creative courses and offerings. I bring in professionals from different careers to introduce children to their field. For example, civil service workers, healthcare, fashion, entertainers, etc. At the same time, we offer a variety of introductory courses in things like karate, business, gymnastics, acting, dance, and more to further introduce them to various interests. After introduction classes, children can opt to continue taking courses they choose, further developing their skills. 

-What has it been like to expand Kidslosion into communities outside the US as well?

It's been outstanding to witness this unique concept being well-received in every single country that we serve! ALL children have natural talents and abilities, and ALL children are eager to share them. 

Kidsplosion enables youth to DISCOVER, DEVELOP and DISPLAY their gifts and talents through a variety of creative ways. Kidsplosion instills the idea that anything is possible and encourages youth to pursue their dreams.  Kidsplosion offers a variety of events, summer camps and after school programs for children and teenagers worldwide.
