Area Attractions: Chabot Space & Science Center - Tinkerfest (10/1, Oakland)

 Continuing its commitment to offering a wide and changing variety of science events and programs that engage and inspire all ages, Chabot Space & Science Center will present its fourth Tinkerfest on Saturday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tinkerfest is a one-day event that celebrates the creative, curious, and inventive spirit in all of us. Tinkerfest will bring together makers, artists, and tinkerers to showcase their work and invites attendees of all ages to join in on the DIY fun. Tinkerfest welcomes all visitors to experiment and learn with guest speakers, demonstrations, and fun hands-on activities!

The Car Take-Apart station returns as a classic Tinkerfest staple. Participants of all ages are encouraged to see, touch and learn about the workings of machinery through hands-on tinkering.

Tinkerfest tickets may be purchased at the door or online in advance at chabotspace.org. Adults (12+): $20, Children (2-12): $15, Seniors (65+): $10; Adult Members: $5, Youth Members: Free.


About Chabot Space & Science Center 

Chabot Space & Science Center is a non-profit institution and community resource located on 13 trail-laced acres in Redwood Regional Park in Oakland amid the largest stand of coastal redwoods in the East Bay. Chabot features a 241-seat full dome planetarium, interactive and hands-on exhibits, space artifacts, a giant screen theater, and the only research-level telescopes regularly available to the public for weekly live viewing in the Western United States.

Chabot Space & Science Center is open Wed.-Sun. 10 am-5 pm with First Fridays the first Friday of every month 6-10 pm. Admission is Adults: $24 • Youth 2-12 $19 (under 2 free) • Students/Seniors $19 • Memberships available.
