Ever since the Pandemic we have been reevaluating our career and life choices. Many found themselves without a job and had to adjust to new ways of looking at life and career decisions. That is what happened to Roger Osorio.
In June of 2016, after facilitating an event for IBM, a senior executive reached out to him and offered him an innovative new position that was created just for him. It was an offer Roger could not refuse. Then on May 21, 2020, Roger was let go along with thousands of other workers due to the Pandemic. Like many, he experienced anger, sadness, embarrassment, and uncertainty. If there was ever a time for coordination of knowledge and effort to prepare for reinvention, that was the moment.
Roger began hosting a reinvention mastermind group for anyone who was part of the company layoff. This began his own journey of reinvention, developing his School of Reinvention and coaching. From his experience coaching others, Roger has written his groundbreaking new book, The Journey to Reinvention: How to Build a Life Aligned with Your Values, Passion and Purpose.
Roger believes that reinventing ourselves is not something to be afraid of. It’s something to learn from and value. In fact, Roger has reinvented himself many times. He has been a middle school teacher, a consultant, an entrepreneur, corporate executive, a teacher at a major university and college, a speaker, and a reinvention coach.
“I’ve quit jobs and I’ve been laid off. People are finding themselves at the doorstep of reinvention either voluntarily or involuntarily,” Roger states. “In May of 2020, due to financial issues, IBM launched one of their largest layoffs in history which I was part of. Driven by my values, passion, and purpose, I focused my last 30 days on teaching other laid off IBMers how to prepare for reinvention ahead of their last day at the company.”
The Journey to Reinvention provides an in-depth exploration on how to adjust your life to align it with your developing self. Roger divides the book into three parts:
Part One: The Case for Reinvention
Part Two: How to Walk the Journey
Part Three: Staying on the Journey
The book provides information on:
- Why now may be the best time for your next reinvention
- Identifying areas of your life that don't align with your values, passion, and purpose
- How to persevere with your reinvention in the face of obstacles
- Strategies for successfully launching large and small reinventions
- Lessons from Leonardo da Vinci's successful reinvention at 30 years old
“When I first embarked on reinventing myself, I didn’t have many stories, insights, and lessons from the journey to reinvention. I often felt alone or like the crazy one that lost his way.” Roger says. “However, that doesn’t have to be the case for you. Reinvention is challenging enough on its own, we don’t need to feel alone or like we have lost our way. Reinvention has nothing to do with becoming someone else and everything to do with becoming who you really are. My book will help you learn from my experiences and those I have had the opportunity to learn from.”
If you feel that your life isn't in alignment with who you are or dream of a different life, The Journey to Reinvention will teach you effective strategies to launch and sustain your own reinvention. If reinvention seems out of reach to you, this book will empower you to believe it's possible!
