Book Nook: D. S. Lliteras

After reading Descent, I was so intrigued by the book that I had to check out others that D.S. Lliteras has written. Some I've gotten from the library, and others were graciously sent to me to facilitate this review.

There are several books Lliteras has written that look at small elements of Biblical events, and fill in a possible story for what happened. For example:

  • What did Peter and the rest of the disciples do between the crucifixion and resurrection?
  • What was going through Judas's mind after the crucifixion?
  • How did people respond to the early Christians?
  • What about the women at the crucifixion?
Each book is a very short read, and sets out to fill in some of the gaps. As fiction, they obviously shouldn't be read as truth, but they do encourage some interesting and thought-provoking questions about Biblical figures and sometimes cast them in a new light.

He has a military background, which comes through in a few of his other books, Viet Man and In a Warrior's Romance. He's also written several other novels and a trilogy that explore different themes.

You can view several of his books at Square One Publishers. I definitely like his writing style. His books are easy to get through, but still very meaty. He manages to pack a lot of depth into short passages, and his books really make me think. He's definitely an author worth checking out!
