I recently got to see a nifty little book called When I'm Feeling. This isn't a book to teach about emotions or strategies, but rather to give ideas for coping in a unique way.
The book is cut into four mix-and-match lines, so as readers flip the pieces, they make different sentences that include a feeling, a response, and an affirmation.
Although it's targeted to kids 5 to 9, my 16-year-old even enjoyed flipping through to come up with different ways to help break a cycle of negative thought. It can be a great way for adults and kids to explore in-the-moment ways to deal with big emotions.
