I was recently sent a copy of The Winthrop Agreement to review. Fans of historical fiction - especially the Gilded Age - might enjoy this book, which follows immigrant Rivkah Milmanovitch and her daughter Mimi.
Rivkah wants to make life better for her daughter, who has grand dreams that are nearly derailed by landlord Frederick Winthrop after a chance encounter. Lottie, who originally took Rivkah in, is now working for the Winthrops, and helps Mimi negotiate for a better future.
Although this wasn't my style of book, it was intriguing. It jumped around very quickly, and as a reader, I didn't really get invested in the character's development, but I was still interested in what would happen next and how the secret from Mimi's teen years would follow her throughout her life.
